Coaching
Val is trained in different types of coaching
for different client needs:
- Individual Executive Coaching
(One-on-one sessions for senior leaders either by telephone or in person)
- Team Coaching
(Group sessions of 4-10 executives either by conference call or in person)
Executive Coaching
Val was specifically trained and credentialed as
a Master Certified Coach. Val’s coaching style is practical
and results oriented. Val’s bottom line philosophy on coaching
is :
“If it does not notably change performance for
an executive, in a way that could be summarized on a performance
evaluation….then it’s just a nice conversation,
but it’s not coaching.”
Val’s specific strengths as a coach include:
- outstanding listening skills
- ability to tell the truth in a way that senior leaders
can hear
- an insistence that clients actually take
action and do
their best.
Coaching is a partnership where Val and the
senior executive work together to create a career and a life
in total alignment with the executive’s values and interests.
Scheduled private coaching sessions by telephone or on site. Session
lengths are customized for the client. Generally about an hour,
every week or two.

Team Coaching
Val was also trained in team or group coaching.
Group coaching goes beyond just group facilitation. Val’s
unique strength is being able to coach one person in front of
others ; but also make it a learning opportunity
for the entire team. Val has coached groups in a variety of industries both
on site and by telephone all around the country.
Teams of 8-10 executives are coached as a group. The agenda includes
working on developing skills that the team members have as a common
goal. For example: all team members may be interested in better
people development skills. Each team member is coached and all
members learn from each other.
Scheduled team coaching sessions are by telephone
or onsite. Session length is customized to the specific team.
